Contemporary grace, timeless tropical living in Kumbalangi, Kerala | 2026

This 3,000-square-foot residence in Kumbalangi is a tectonic dialogue between Kerala’s vernacular heritage and contemporary minimalism. The design navigates the site’s tropical context through a rhythmic interplay of sloping tiled roofs and clean, linear structural forms.

By integrating open-plan volumes with traditional shaded verandahs, the architecture invites the surrounding landscape inward. Natural materiality—warm timber and stone—pairs with modern glass surfaces, creating a light-filled sanctuary that honors ancestral charm through a refined, modern lens.
